Our Story

Built from experience

Brendan Stapleton and Jason Saunders met while working together in 2011. They quickly recognised in each other a shared approach: a practical and innovative mindset, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to doing things better. That early connection grew into a long-standing professional relationship built on mutual respect, problem-solving and integrity.

After decades of both working in construction, Brendan (with a BSc in Construction Management) and Jason (as a qualified electrician and exceptional carpenter), found themselves repeatedly encountering the same frustrations on site — delays, disruption, escalating costs, inefficiencies and unnecessary risk. They began asking whether there was a better way to build. After months of trial, error, prototyping and refinement, they developed a system that blends the strongest elements of conventional, prefabricated and modular construction, and CHP (Clever Homes and Properties) was born.  Not because either of them is particularly clever! But  C.L.E.V.E.R. stands for: "𝗖onsumption-optimized 𝗟iving, that is 𝗘conomically 𝗩iable and 𝗘nvironmentally 𝗥esponsible".  The result is a smarter, faster and more cost-effective way to create additional space, from Bathrooms, Offices and studies to Dressing Rooms, Bay Window Nooks and other Home extensions.

Just as importantly, CHP’s approach is designed to improve risk management for everyone involved. By moving more of the construction process into a controlled environment and reducing the amount of time, labour and uncertainty on site, CHP significantly reduces the risks traditionally carried by both the client and the contractor. The result is greater predictability, less disruption, improved efficiency and a clearer path from concept to completion.
